We're all for adoption!

5 kittens - born in March 2008. 3 females and 2 males.
Victoria and Elizabeth were found living behind a trash can. Vicki had already given birth to 5 kittens and Elizabeth was pregnant. A Good Samaritan scooped them up and brought them to Animal General. Elizabeth did not give birth to her babies, but she has been a wet nurse for her sister. The kittens love their aunt just as much as their mom. The mothers are the sweetest strays we have ever met and we will not let them be separated. They were named for the royalty that they are. If you want two loving cats, these are your girls. The kittens are equally as lovable and need to be placed in homes ready for the kind of kitten energy that comes with these little balls of fur.
Adopt CC and Cecilia!

CC and Cecilia are two adult cats perfect for people not home a lot or not seeking overly affectionate cats, but really want to give some kitties a good home. They were found in very different places in the city, but once they met at Animal General they became forever mates. One is very rarely found apart from the other and they clean each other all day long. They are timid around people, although if you approach them calmly you can pet them. CC loves his Cecilia and Cecilia finds comfort curled up under his paws. It's truly a beautiful sight to behold. These two kitties deserve a loving home where they can be shy with humans and enjoy the solace of each other's company.
Adopt Us!

Emilia, Bella, and Katia were living in a colony of feral cats in Harlem. Knowing they were young enough to catch and socialize, an Animal General employee spent cold January mornings trapping these ladies one by one. Now the family is reunited. They all have separate personalities. Bella was the first caught and is the most curious. Emilia loves to be cuddled, and Katia is the stubborn sister who seemed to be the leader of the trio on the streets. They are all safe and warm and ready to become part of your family. These beautiful girls will take some extra TLC to make them comfortable in your home. We recommend they all go together, or go to a home with another young cat and lots of toys. They are healthy and have been fully examined by a veterinarian. In April they will need to be spayed.
Adopt Jack and Harold!

Jack was rescued from JFK International Airport. He was in a group of cats trapped for neutering and eventual release at a cat sanctuary upstate for unadoptable felines. When we went to take Jack out of the trap, however, he rubbed up against our administrator's hand and when the trap was opened, instead of bolting like most ferals, he calmly walked out and wanted to be petted. And so here is this sweet boy with the biggest kitty cheeks you'll ever see. Harold is from Yonkers. He was scared out of his mind to be at Animal General. After some months in a cage (which is where he preferred to be), we kicked him out. It was sink or swim. He met Jack and they became two peas in a pod. They sleep together, they eat together, they jump together. Whatever Jack does, Harold will do. Please do not separate these two brave boys - they want to come live with you together.

Adopt Lei!

A neighbor of Animal General's came in saying she heard a cat meowing in her dryer vent, could we help her out? A few staff members went armed with a can of food and a carrier to rescue the stray cat. Sure enough she had climbed into the dryer vent to keep warm, but didn't have a good way out. We were able to pull her out and brought her to Animal General where we found she had been looking for a warm spot to give birth to her kittens! On November 7th, two kittens were born, but only one lived after two hours of mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Her son has been adopted and now Lei wants to find a loving home. Lei has very exotic eyes and is a curious young lady.
